Art was my favorite subject in school (of course) and this was an assignment for Advanced Art my sophomore year in high school. The instructions: using the school colors, paint an animal.

"Portals" (Acrylic on cardboard canvas) circa 1986

I took advanced art my sophomore year and this was one of the assignments. This painting has stayed one of my favorite pieces even after all these years. At the time that I painted this, each portal and image had a meaning. Sadly, I didn't write it down anywhere or if I did I lost it and I no longer remember what it all meant to me back then.

"Phoenix Rising" (Abstract in Oil on Newsprint Sketch Paper circa 1992)

Funny story about this piece... it is actually a sheet of paper that I used to wipe off my brushes for the other oil paintings I posted in prior entries! :-P

"Fancy Purple" circa 1992 (oil on sketch paper)

This isn't as good of an image of this painting as I'd like but it's all I have left of her. This was the 3rd experiment with the oil paints my godmother gave me. I wish I had a better image because this has been one of my favorite paintings of mine for a long time.
