"Burning Glory" circa 1989 (pastel on sketch paper)

In 1988 George HW Bush (or George Senior as I refer to him now) won the presidential election over Michael Dukakis. The radicals protested for quite awhile over it. It was the first election that I paid close attention to (we even watched videos of debates and interviews etc in government class) I wasn't old enough to vote in 1988 (only 17yrs old) but even then I could see that presidential elections didn't really seem to give a viable choice for real leadership. Almost a year after that election there was even more protesting when the plans for Desert Storm were revealed. The flag burnings were all over the news. This pastel drawing is what my 18 year old mind came up with in response.
